about

A lion is a big cat creature with claws and sharp teeth. Some say it is a king among animals. It has no stripes, ordinarily there is not a single stripe on a lion. It is the tiger that has the stripes. A tiger ordinarily has stripes, many many great looking stripes, that are good for hiding out. Same as the lion, the tiger has cat features, claws and big sharp teeth, that are good for fighting and hunting. The tiger is also considered among animal royalty. On the surface, this is all very menacing, still both creatures are covered in soft fur and have gooey insides.

Throughout the history of everything, people have wondered, if a lion and a tiger were ever to meet, what would happen? Certainly a terrible fight would ensue, say the wondering people. Certainly the tiger would be the victor, says one wondering person. Certainly the lion must win, says another. Certainly we can’t be sure that such a meeting would result in a fight, says yet another person. Perhaps it would result in something else entirely.

On Gleypir tígur gleypir ljón, Icelandic duo Tumi Árnason and Magnús Trygvason Eliassen return, with their second album of saxophone and drum creations. Continuing their journey through musical sounds and free improvisation, the duo presents eight new tracks, composed and recorded in the Icelandic countryside during the time of pandemic isolations.
